WildCard Backup Privacy Policy

1. Overview

WildCard Backup is a local-first media backup app for photographers, videographers, content creators, and anyone managing files across SD cards, folders, external drives, backup drives, and archive drives.

Your media files are copied between the folders and drives you choose. WildCard Backup does not upload your photos, videos, or other media files to WildCard Backup servers for backup, organisation, cleaning, or archiving.

2. Information We Collect

WildCard Backup may store or process the following information to provide app functionality:

• App settings and preferences, such as drive labels and backup options.
• Drive, folder, and archive configuration that you add in the app.
• File metadata needed for backup and organisation, such as file names, paths, sizes, timestamps, and media metadata.
• Purchase status for ad-free or premium features, where applicable.
• Diagnostics such as crash reports, app version, device type, operating system, and performance information, where enabled or provided by the platform.
• Advertising-related information from Google AdMob in versions of the app that display ads.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Copy files from source locations to backup locations you choose.
• Organise backed-up media into folders when you enable metadata organisation.
• Clean source folders or drives when you request it.
• Move selected files from backup locations to archive locations.
• Save app settings, preferences, and drive labels.
• Provide purchases, restore purchases, display ads, improve reliability, and diagnose app issues.

4. Local-First Media Handling

WildCard Backup is designed so your media files stay on your devices and storage locations. Backup, cleaning, and archive operations happen locally between the folders and drives you select.

Some internet-connected services, such as app store purchases, ads, updates, analytics, or crash reporting, may use network access. These services do not require uploading your media files to WildCard Backup servers.

5. Third-Party Services

WildCard Backup may use third-party services for app store distribution, purchases, ads, analytics, diagnostics, and platform services. These services may process information according to their own privacy policies.

• Apple App Store and Google Play: app distribution, purchases, subscriptions, and purchase restoration.
• Google AdMob: advertising in ad-supported versions of the app. Google may process device identifiers, ad interactions, approximate location, and other advertising-related information. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Platform diagnostics: crash reports or diagnostics provided by Apple, Google, or the operating system.

6. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your media files with advertisers or third parties for backup or organisation.

We may share limited information when required to provide app services, comply with law, enforce our rights, protect users, process purchases, display ads, or diagnose app issues.

7. Data Storage and Retention

App settings, drive configuration, and local metadata are stored on your device unless your operating system or chosen storage provider syncs that data elsewhere. You can remove local app data by deleting app settings, removing configured drives where supported, or uninstalling the app.

Third-party services may retain purchase, advertising, analytics, and diagnostic information according to their own retention policies.

8. Your Choices

• You choose which folders and drives WildCard Backup can access.
• You can remove configured drives or folders in the app.
• You can use device settings to manage app permissions.
• You can purchase ad-free features where available.
• You can manage ad personalisation through Apple, Google, or device privacy settings.

9. Children’s Privacy

WildCard Backup is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. International Users

If you use WildCard Backup outside Australia, your information may be processed in your country, Australia, or locations where our service providers operate.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. Updated versions will be posted at https://wildcardbackup.com/privacy and may also be shown in the app.
